Flaky homemade sausage rolls with Golden Heat in the filling and on the side for dipping.
Makes: 24 small rolls | Prep: 20 min | Cook: 25 min
Ingredients
- 500 g pork sausage meat
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 3 tbsp The Flavorsmith Golden Heat Hot Honey Mustard, plus extra to serve
- 1 tsp dried sage or thyme
- 2 sheets ready-rolled puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- Sesame seeds
Method
- Heat the oven to 200°C and line a tray with baking paper.
- Mix the sausage meat, onion, breadcrumbs, Golden Heat and herbs.
- Cut each pastry sheet in half. Lay a log of filling along one long edge of each piece.
- Roll up, brush the seam with egg and press to seal. Cut each log into 6.
- Place seam-side down on the tray, brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake 22–25 minutes, until puffed, golden and cooked through. Serve with Golden Heat for dipping.
Chef's tip: Chill the rolled logs for 15 minutes before cutting — they slice cleaner and puff higher.
